Norwegian Cruise Line updates

Important information for passengers sailing on Norwegian ships through June to September.  All parents are encouraged to register for the Splash Academy and Entourage programs as soon as they board the ship.  Due to high volume of children and teenagers under the age of 18, you could experience slight wait times at drop off and pick up.  Make sure you have your child’s key card available for pick up and drop off.  Please contact us at CruiseOne-Huntersville, NC for more information.

TSA Prohibited Items

I read an article in Yahoo! News today about a Florida teen being detained by TSA for a design on her purse. Although she was able to travel through two other airports TSA agents at the Norfolk International Airport pulled her aside because she had a replica of a gun on her purse. TSA agents were able to determine it was not real but a replica but still advised the teen to check the purse or turn it over. She was advised that ‘replicas of guns’ were prohibited. As a result of this incident, the teen missed her flight. TSA rules show that ‘Realistic Replicas of Firearms’ are prohibited from carry on items.
I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone to please check TSA rules

Whale Watching in Samana Bay. Dominican Republic

I was very excited to see this article about whale watching as I also decided this was a great itinerary. Although, I've provided a link for this article. I'm adding to this blog.
"It is estimated that up to 5,000 males and females will make their annual pilgrimage to the protected waters of the Dominican Republic this year. In 1986 the area was established as a "Sanctuary for the Marine Mammals of the Dominican Republic" by the government and has become the winter home of nearly a third of the Atlantic Ocean's humpback whale population.

Famous for 'singing' to attract mates or to challenge other would-be suitors the songs of the Humpback whale can last up to 20 minutes and can be heard for more than 20 miles away. The male may repeat the same song dozens of times over several hours and research shows that whales in the same geographic area sing in similar "dialects."

I would like you all to join me on the Norwegian Pearl February 6, 2011 which will include a stop in Samana, Dominican Republic for a whale watching excursion.
